About us
Solas Media is a public relations consultancy based in Glasgow and Inverness, formed by Donald Morrison, an award winning communications professional.
He has more than 20 years experience in public relations and has worked in several high profile roles. Before setting up his own agency in 2009, he was head of media at BAA Scotland, owner and operator of Scotland’s largest airports, and before then he was media manager for Glasgow Airport. In 2007, he led the media response following the Glasgow Airport terrorist attack, working under extreme pressure to respond to media bids from around the world and support the business recovery through effective marketing and stakeholder engagement. The BAA Scotland communications team was later awarded the CIPR Gold Award for Crisis Communications for its innovative response.
He previously worked in the political arena as a political researcher where he honed his talents for PR. He has a reputation for providing sound counsel and for effective networking and partnership building.
He was born in Gaelic speaking Lewis in the Western Isles, which provides the inspiration for ‘Solas’.
Formerly New Horizon Media, the company rebranded in 2019 to become Solas Media.
